Ground is a budgeting tool, not financial advice. It's here to help you see your numbers clearly and build calmer money habits, not to replace a financial, tax, or legal professional.

What is Ground?#

Ground is a personal finance app that shows you what's actually safe to spend after your bills are covered. It tracks your recurring bills and debts, helps you set goals, and is built around one calm, simple number instead of a dozen confusing charts.

It's designed for people who find money stressful. Ground is low upkeep, low pressure, and easy to come back to.

How much does it cost? Is there a free version?#

Every account starts with a 14-day free trial. You do not need a card to begin.

Manual tracking (expenses, bills, goals, and debts entered by hand) stays free forever. A subscription is only needed for bank sync and Ask Ground. The first 100 annual subscribers can lock in $39/year. After those spots are filled, the price is $59/year or $7/month. See the full pricing page for a plan comparison.

You can cancel anytime and you'll keep access through the end of your current billing period.

Can I use it without connecting a bank?#

Yes. You can add expenses, bills, goals, and debts by hand for free. Connecting a bank imports transactions automatically, but it is not required.

Is my data secure? How does connecting a bank work?#

Bank connections run through Plaid, the same technology used by Venmo, Robinhood, and thousands of other apps. You enter your bank login directly into Plaid's secure form. Ground never sees or stores your bank username or password.

The connection is read-only: Ground can read your transactions and balances, but it can never move money or make changes at your bank.

Your data is stored with Google Firebase and encrypted at rest. The token that lets Ground read your bank data stays on the server and cannot be read from your browser. We don't sell your data.

Is Ground financial advice?#

No. Ground is an informational budgeting tool. Nothing in the app, including Ask Ground, is financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. For major money decisions, please consult a licensed professional.

What is Ask Ground?#

Ask Ground answers questions about your own numbers and suggests budgets or plans based on your actual spending. It can draft changes for you, but you always confirm before anything is applied.

Think of it as a helpful assistant, not a licensed financial advisor.

What is a partner account?#

A partner account lets you link with a spouse, partner, or roommate. You both see and manage the same expenses, bills, goals, budgets, and debts. One subscription covers both of you.

A few things stay private, like notification preferences. You can leave the linked account at any time, and your data copies back to your own personal account.

Which banks are supported?#

Plaid supports more than 10,000 U.S. financial institutions, including major banks, regional banks, and credit unions. If yours is not available, you can still track everything manually.

How do I cancel?#

Cancel anytime from Settings or the billing portal. There is no retention flow. You keep access through the end of your paid period, and manual tracking continues to work without a subscription.

How do I delete my account and data?#

You can delete your account from Settings. Your data can be restored for 30 days. After that, it is permanently removed.

Is Ground available outside the U.S.?#

Not yet. Ground is currently available to U.S. residents ages 18 and up.

What are you NOT responsible for?#

Ground helps you organize your money and see it clearly, but the decisions and outcomes are yours. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Ground isn't liable for financial losses, missed payments, overdrafts, or other damages arising from your use of the app or from relying on information it shows.

Bank-synced data can occasionally be delayed or incomplete. Always verify important information directly with your bank.

This is a plain-language summary. The full limitation of liability is in our Terms of Service.
